Neighbors Night Out
Your Block 6:00 PM
No GOCC October Meeting
Having a gathering? Email constable@gardenoaks.org to be included in the list so law enforcement agencies, Precinct One Constable and HPD, are aware. Gatherings can be as simple as bring-your-own lawn chair and beverage, to covered dish pot lucks, to larger lavish events. The key is showing Neighborhood Unity for Crime Prevention. Share names and contact numbers and meet your neighbors. Most gatherings are in the 5:30 to 9 pm window.
GOCC 2025 Officers and Chairs
It’s that time of year for GOCC Officer elections for 2025. As President Mike Stephens writes in the October edition of the Gazette, the current President, Vice President and Treasurer have volunteered to serve another term as officers. Having said that, if anyone is interested in throwing their name in the hat for one of those roles, please email secretary@gardenoaks.org. Speaking of secretary, that officer seat is open for 2025, and we’re looking for volunteers. Additionally, we’re looking for a new social events chairperson. Please contact any of the officers at their email addresses, listed below or on page 2 of Gazette, if you need more details about either of the roles.

Garden Oaks Civic Club (GOCC)
The Purpose of GOCC is promoting the civic and social welfare of the residents of Garden Oaks, fostering neighborhood unity, and assisting in activities that benefit and promote the residential character of the neighborhood. GOCC is not the property owners’ association for Garden Oaks and has no deed restriction enforcement authority.
For 2024, we will meet at Great Heights Brewing (private back room). No meeting in October (National Night Out)
Membership is open to anyone in the neighborhood, whether you own or rent. Membership is voluntary, but only paid members can vote on Civic Club matters. Membership dues are a primary source for funding neighborhood activities, which are described in the committee descriptions below. You do not need to be a member to attend monthly meetings.
Committees of the Civic Club include:
- Beautification – maintains 5 neighborhood green spaces. The committee schedules workdays throughout the year for maintenance. Lawn mowing and tree trimming are contracted out, paid for by the Civic Club. Contact: Beautification@gardenoaks.org
- Constable Patrol – contracts with the Harris County Precinct One Constable for 1 constable patrol currently. The funds are provided entirely by residents. Contact: constable@gardenoaks.org
- Web/Social Media– maintains our neighborhood website and presence on social media. Contact: social or webmaster@gardenoaks.org
- Gazette – writes and edits our monthly newsletter, which is hand delivered by volunteers. It is a great source of neighborhood information and is also available online at www.gardenoaks.org. Delivery volunteers by block are always needed: Gazettedelivery@gardenoaks.org
- Membership – sends an annual mailout for dues and maintains the roster of paid members. It also gives out door prizes at meetings and coordinates “Meet and Greet” socials scheduled throughout the year.
Contact: Membership@gardenoaks.org
Other events scheduled throughout the year include the 4th of July Parade, which is a fun family event. We are planning several Constable Program fundraisers throughout the year too. We hope you will join us at a monthly Civic Club meeting. We’d like to meet you and learn how we can better serve the community.
