Historic District Ad Hoc Committee

The purpose of this ad hoc committee was to explore the feasibility/desirability of historic designation for Garden Oaks. The committee was charged with studying the pros and cons of historic designation, including the positive and negative experiences of other neighborhoods in Houston regarding acceptance or rejection.

The Civic Club has decided it is not appropriate for the Civic Club to pursue, endorse, nor sponsor historic designation for Garden Oaks. The Garden Oaks Civic Club received and accepted the committee's report; upon acceptance of the report, the committee stands dismissed.
